Not getting many straight answers as to when my ordered 9.7 is going to be available (two separate dealers said they would have one in 454 days). Local shop has a 9.8 in stock. Looks like the highlights are carbon wheels, cranks, and stem/bar and the suspension change to RS from Fox. May...
Bike has 205 x 60 in it. Fox lists a 205 x 62.5. Leads one to believe that a 2.5mm spacer is in the 60 that could be removed. So stock travel is 140/60=2.33 leverage ratio. 2.5mm x 2.33= 5.82mm of increased travel or 146 give or take?
Maybe there is another 2.5mm spacer in there?
Not a crankarm issue. I suspect the lock ring preloads the motor bearings to keep the BB spindle from walking back and forth. The crank arm just presses onto the spindle (but not the same distance each time on each bike) so they need a way to take up play axially. Hence the lock ring. But...
That lock ring must have a bunch of margin in it. Going from 22 ft-lbs to 36 ft-lbs (60% higher) is pretty extreme for the same part. Yet no talk about any Loctite to keep it there over time. There is a bunch of high and cyclic loading going on down there that would benefit from a secondary...
I have been riding my full power Decoy for almost four years. On half the rides I do I am not getting enough work in. On ECO you have too much power for that ride you describe. I also ride either by myself or with very stubborn push bikers who have not seen the light yet. The EXe seems to be...
Getting gun shy. Rode a Kenevo SL today. Amazing suspension. Pretty good discount 25% right now which makes it very attractive. Not a fan of the motor noise but not a deal breaker. Decisions!
Pure tension and compression (independent of any lateral forces) as it has a pivot on both ends. In a perfect world it would be a straight line from pivot to pivot. Since its not, it has moments driven into it. Looks to have failed in the vertical plane so its either a serious flaw in the...
Hey thanks for the great feedback. Just got back from three weeks of riding in Flagstaff, Durango, Crested Butte, Curt Gowdy (Wyoming) Ft Collins, Fruita, Richfield, and Thunder Mtn in Red Canyon. Somewhere around 250 miles of single track. My Decoy worked great but a lighter, quieter bike...
A huge driver for me ordering the new Trek EXe is 1) silence 2) looks like an analog bike. Ebikes in my area are still not allowed on most trails.
Paint the Ibis bright red and throw Ducati stickers on it and Bob's your uncle.
The wonders of high def vid. Robs vid on whether the EXe is a game changer at the 10:30 mark. You are missing a chain ring bolt...... thing had to be creaking a bit.
If I interpret this correctly it sounds like the engagement of the sprag clutch? Have to look at the exploded diagram of the gearbox a bit more closely.
