I was worried that the S5 would be too big after having an XL first generation Kenevo which felt perfect. The S5 is a big step on from it. I feel like I’m centred and “in” the bike rather than being perched on top of it. The extra room to position my body correctly gives so much more control and...
@Eebs you won’t regret it mate. It really does make a noticeable difference to have a bike that fits properly. This is the first time I’ve ever had a bike that is actually the right size for me and I’ve been riding mountain bikes over 30 years! I see so many people riding bikes that are too...
@Eebs from what you’ve just said an S4 would be perfect then. Smashing downhills and riding hard would be better on the slightly larger S4. My riding sounds very similar to yours and I’m so glad I went for the S5 over the S4. It feels so confident, stable and fast yet still very flickable and...
I would wait and go for the S4 given your height and preference for going downhill.
I’m 6’2” and bought an S5. I was going to buy an S4 but test rode one and it felt small! The new Kenevo seems massive on paper but in real life it’s a different matter. The S5 looks like it should be huge but...

@Pablo must be one of Berkshire Cycles bash guards then. It was the sticker bombing that confused me. Easily done these days!
Once I get out on the trail I'll get a pic and post it up on here.
@Pablo bike looks great. I have just finished putting a pair of Maxxis Shorty's on my 2020 Expert ready for it's maiden voyage. Literally, it's very wet here!:poop:
What is the bashguard on yours? I have an Amygos one on my 2018 Kenevo but they are doing one for the 2020 yet so I need to find...
@Wadders get one of these:
Amygos Bashguard
I’ve got one for my Kenevo, had it about a year and it’s bern great. Plenty of battle scars on it and it’s still going strong. Well worth the money. (y)
I’ll be ordering a new Kenevo when they are released and I’ll purchase one for it as it’s very likely it’ll be running the same battery/motor as the Levo.
I did think a dab of silicon on the dial would seal the dial.
@TrailwattsUK when you say preset and fully sealed does that mean there will...
Oh and there’s little chance that bikes will be banned despite all the doom mongering here. The idiots that could, in theory, ride around flat out won’t be spending thousands on a nice ebike they’ll already ready be riding cheap Chinese stuff with no limitations or on quads bought on eBay for a...
@TrailwattsUK how waterproof is the unit? I’d be concerned that the dial would allow moisture into the unit. You know what the UK winter is like, well and the summer!
SYPNZ that’s a good idea. It’s not a straightforward swap to a standard bolt but I’m sure an engineering firm could copy it in steel. It’d take a bit of time but if you know a friendly engineer it shouldn’t cost too much. It could be something that you could produce a batch of and sell to cover...
I’ve broken one as have several others. You can claim under warranty and get a new bolt. If you want to buy it yourself you’ll have to buy the complete bolt kit for £50 as Specialized don’t sell them individually.
I agree it should be made of steel and be stronger. Seems a bit of a weak design.
Unfortunately you can’t buy the bolt separately from Specialized but they will do it under warranty.
I bought a complete bolt kit anyway so I’d have the others as spares as it didn’t cost too much. Berkshire Cycles sorted me out super quick as always.
