If you want to spend more time riding and less time mucking with your chain, use Maxima Chain wax. It's cheap and rated for moto. Just apply liberally after cleaning your chain, wipe with a rag, let dry overnight. You'll get crazy miles between maintenance. Lube it and leave it. You'll thank me.
I'm a diesel mechanic in my 50s. I've had tennis elbow for many years. Riding dirt bike and ebike plus my job makes sure the tennis elbow always returns. The best advice that I can give is do not wear those compression bands while riding. It will make a bad situation worse. You don't want...
I've been with Specialized ebikes for five years now. The reason I stay with them is the warranty service from my LBS. If you ride a lot your gonna need a lot of motors and hubs. It seems to me that when they put a new motor in, the warranty on the motor starts over. That's contrary to standard...
KTM reporting for duty! Pictures from today. Also, my new Levo from a couple days ago. Not happy with the finicky 12sp SRAM and rear derailleur hanger that is too weak, but otherwise love the mullet.
I got great news on my 6th gear ghost shifting. Ordered the SRAM Eagle 12 sp guide and the DAG 3.0 Park tool. For some reason the bike shop could not fix this new bike so I pony'd up and bought the correct tools. Never needed them for the 11 sp SRAM but the 12sp is just too finicky. Anyway, the...
I think you already figured out the rear sag contributed. The other thing is probably too much air in the front tire. I broke my fibula from a front end wash out going up hill on a fast switch back. That was on a 17' Levo with a 3.0 front tire with too much air pressure. Fast forward to today...
Thanks for the info on the 12 speed eagle guys. I've had three Levos and a Kenevo, all had 11 speed SRAM. A bent derailleur is common and easy fix for those bikes. I do my own bike work. However, I have a new Levo with the eagle 12 speed and the monster 50 on the rear cassette. It will not...
It's weird that I can't find these online or the Specialized web site but my LBS ordered them. Maybe they are something new? Either way, thankfully they are "ebike" ready.🤪😍
Haven't tried them in the front. My go to tire for the front is the Butcher Grid same size. Totally different tread with four rows of knobbies instead of 6 like the rear. My wife's Kenevo has the Butcher black diamond 2.6 in the front. The black diamond version isn't really rounded and more...
It was not my intent to hijack this thread. I just thought I would point out that there were other options than fancy gloves for winter riding. I will also acquiesce to your assertion that bikes with motors and batteries do not travel farther and faster than "regular" bikes.
cheers (y);)
First, most of my rides are two battery rides. I always carry a spare (Levo). In the winter it's not uncommon for me to run both batteries dead. Second, my average speed for say a 25 mile ride /4500ft elevation gain is 12mph. For instance this morning, it was below freezing and there was a...
The best option where I live, Utah, is bar mitts/ pogies. You can where whatever you like inside them. As fellow EMTB members know, Ebikes are always generating more wind and rides are much farther than regular bikes so extra protection is a must. After installing barr mitts/pogies you can...
Bike manufacturers don't make chains so the bike brand is irrelevant. Specialized uses KMC. They don't last long on my Levos and Kenevo . Switch to SRAM, buy two chains and rotate them whenever cleaning.
I have a couple of 17s that the battery health started dropping the first ride and later went to cell imbalance. The newer batteries are way better than the old ones. Maybe I'll drop the old batteries off at the LBS and see what they say :)
