    Custom pivot link protector

i am also consider extending the lower leg (shown here) once i know the exact position i want it, so it will sit against the bottom of the pivot and never move

    Custom pivot link protector

i am mounting mine with some thin anti slip rubber i have or some frame protector film which is grippy and will stop the slip and also protect the frame. It won't budge once that is on there :). I have matched the profile of the guard to the same as the frame tube so it grips really well and...

    Custom pivot link protector

i prob won't share the design only because i have shared designs before and got 'shafted' with people selling my designs on etsy !, and from what i can see they are doing very well from it ! haha. Obviously not saying you would do that !, just explaining my hesitancy to giving the design out. If...

    Custom pivot link protector

Thanks a lot, not really thought about selling it, but for sure I def think it's something the rail needs. I would likely need to remove the logo for sale so I don't get into copyright with Trek ?. I can def print more more off for sale and have lots of colour options ?

    Custom pivot link protector

Decided to design my own cover for the pivot link to stop stones and mud getting stuck, quite happy with how it came out, looks more OEM than the mud guards i have tried to adapt. Should do exactly what is needed and look minimal. What do people think ?

    Creaking/clicking from motor area

Also it's pretty clear 20nm is not very tight for this motor mount bolts, all the load and weight of the rider moving left and right together with the twisting forces of the cranks and motor go though those bolts, I am not surprised they creak with tiny amounts of movement. I can see why they...

    Creaking/clicking from motor area

Interesting that when I removed my motor there were no gaskets between the mounting plates and the frame, however I did exactly that and added some copper slip to give it some movement without rubbing. Will need to do a long ride to see if it's gone. It's way way too muddy at the moment to...

    Creaking/clicking from motor area

Interesting, i guess mud etc from the back tire does get thrown all over that area so can easily get something stuck. I will def check that. Quick blast of compressed air after washing might help

    Creaking/clicking from motor area

You will probably find that it's only one or two things which are creaking it just resonates through the frame. It is very annoying, I am super fussy about creaks and rattles on bikes and in cars. Try and isolate it, does it only do it when pedaling, sitting on the seat, motor on, motor off...

    Creaking/clicking from motor area

Mine creaks from battery connector area without the battery in, thankfully it's ok when the battery is fitted. You will probably find just loosening and re tightening the battery connector will do the trick as it's prob under tension somehow

    Creaking/clicking from motor area

You can isolate if it's suspension related by pressing down on the seat to move the suspension and listen for the noise, mine only came when flexing the crank arms but not when I pushed down on the seat. I am sure I will get a suspension creak at some point, just not at the moment ?

    Motor connectors

Hi, i needed to remove the bash guard to check the motor bolts for tightness due to creaking noise, anyway, as i did that i noticed that the empty connector on the motor for the 12v supply or rear light (which i don't have) is lacking a rubber grommet cover, so its already got some mud in it Not...

Missing dust cap on one connector

Hi, i needed to remove the bash guard on my Trek Rail to check the motor bolts for tightness due to creaking noise, anyway, as i did that i noticed that the empty connector in the motor for the rear light (which i don't have) is lacking a rubber grommet cover. Not really an issue as i don't have...

    None Sram pads ??

Indeed, I went for some Nukeproof organic as there is limited choice in stock at the moment, anyway, they work great and as you say, still sequel when wet but that quickly stops when they dry out. Unlike the sintered which never stopped !

    Creaking/clicking from motor area

Thanks !, just realised and cancelled my order for the Torx. I think i will do as you say and check the bolts with my fingers and assume they are tight if they don't budge.

    Creaking/clicking from motor area

Ok, so the original clicking has gone, but then at the end of the ride I got another creak ! ?, Same place or origin, the motor/bottom bracket. I have done as you adviced to check those bracket bolts but my cheap tamper proof torx have a too small hole in them so I cannot check them. Ordered a...

    Creaking/clicking from motor area

Great, thanks for the info. One of the 6 external bolts was loose so will try it again and see if that got it. If not I'll do what you did. I am surprised they don't loctite them in as standard, seems like any area that could well benefit.
