What tyres? The Ultimate Tyre Thread

New e-biker here (Relay) and am not surprised but they are hard on tires. About 40 miles on a rear Aggressor 2.5 and the side knobs are looking pretty injured. It probably has another 15-20 miles on it at most. I keep swapping front tires but can see them getting some good wear as well.

    Relay Tips / Tricks

I did try the zip tie trick on a trail and I could see it being the future of e-bikes if they were designed around it. Fixer rear hub to save weight and all that, it removes a point of slack in the driveline. But you'd need a freewheel in the engine that could take that sort of use, and an...

new lightweight ebike from transition - the relay

It's a dope e-bike. It handles so well, the battery lasts a long time and it has mad power. Pretty stoked on it. The air shock is pretty terrible however. It has low air volume on a highly progressive bike. So I've ordered a coil.

    Relay Tips / Tricks

I tested it last night just on the street (it's currently about 115' with the heat index when I get off work, pretty unpleasant biking conditions) and it works beautifully. Basically just shift when you'd like as long as the bike is coasting. Also shifts are invisible and silent as the chain...

    Relay Tips / Tricks

Was kicking around using a small zip tie to zip my cassette to a spoke. This would cause the cassette to spin with the wheel even while not pedaling allowing you to shift gears anytime that the bike is moving because the front chainring has a freewheel built in to it due to the motor. Downsides...

Just announced! Mondraker Neat lightweight emtb with TQ motor! Looks uh, neat!

Not only does the Neat hold 2 water bottles, but really if you have a day that you need the RE, you almost certainly would need a hydration pack so the loss of a bottle holder doesn't seem to matter. I don't ever need more than about 55% of my Relay's battery. For my needs, this new Neat sounds...

    Relay Tips / Tricks

So my Relay was in for a warranty motor replacement and when I went to pick it up, it would not turn on. The fault has now been traced back to a bad controller (the switch on the handlebar), so Transition is now sending a new one out. This was probably the source of the 3-4 random shutdowns I...

    Relay Tips / Tricks

I intend to get some of that very light grey pipe insulation and place the cables in the center and stick a piece right there when I get my Relay back from the shop for a motor replacement. My App has had my motor temp at 113' when I checked it once (was in the middle power setting, undulating...

    Frameset only …. ⚡️

The lack of frame/ motor e-bike combos sucks quite frankly. I decided I wanted the Relay and had to pay nearly $9K for the frame I wanted and a bunch of crap parts that I got about $1700 for in total, making my frame only cost quite high. The good thing is that because of this, up to date...

    My Relay rocks

I can barely squeeze my dropper in and torque to 5 nm. Did you verify that you have a 31.6 dropper and didn't accidentally get a 30.9?

    Relay Tips / Tricks

Yah, the motor bolts are known creaking items. The fix is grease/ locktight & the correct torque specs which could be a warranty item, but also could be completed at home pretty easily. Also, if you remove the battery and look in the frame above and below the battery you'll all sorts of loose...

    My Relay rocks

Yah, I got stuck at the chainring and frankly, stripped a torx a bit so I stopped.

Transition Relay Owners how's the bike?

I had mine pretty pulled apart the other day and there are significant excess cords and a loose plug, just flopping around inside the frame in multiple spots. Certainly generating noises. I'm going to buy that pipe insulation stuff that is real light and grey in color and try and wrap it around...

    My Relay rocks

Really glad it worked out! You swapped your own motor? I asked if I could but Transition told me it was just easier to send it to the bike shop for the warranty, so I did. Should be out early next week. If yes, could you tell me how you did it as I tried to drop the motor on mine but got stuck...

Levo SL Gen 1 Levo SL 2023 Megathread

What you are experiencing here is the slack sta making the seated position on the SL longer than the equivalent sized SJEvo. One of the problems with a slack sta is the inability to get reach appropriate while standing without ending up with this absurdly long seated ETT distance. I'm only...

    My Relay rocks

I think something is causing friction and forcing that freehub forward so that you are hearing it all of the time. Pretty darn sure it shouldn't be doing that. I only rode mine 5x before having surgery and have been off for weeks now or I'd be more definitive. Record a brief riding video and...

    My Relay rocks

Yah, mine does that. It's normal. Never had noticed before cause I don't pedal backwards while riding!

Levo SL Gen 1 Levo SL 2023 Megathread

The high shock position only gives you 5mm at the bottom bracket whereas the 29er position lowers your BB probably closer to 15 mm at the BB if you kept the 27.5" rear tire on. So unfortunately that's going to make the sta pretty slack, BB pretty low, etc. One work around is to run a 2.5 or...

Transition Relay Owners how's the bike?

I did order the EXT Aria (high volume air shock) for my own Relay yesterday but it's going to be a month or two until I have it.
