Hmm, so I went over to the Mammoth website to read up on their policies, ready to fire off a fairly polite email of disappointment, until I found this in their FAQ:
Are eMTB's allowed?
Yes, class 1 pedal assist eMTB's are allowed on all of our mountain bike trails. Riders must follow the same...
Typical, much like Whistler. Except Whistler also has the balls to try to say it's also for "environmental" reasons and also something to do with Grizzly bears. Huh? Sounds like a load of crap to me.
A well-placed zip-tie will do the same thing as the playing card... just place it so the end of the zip tie (that normally gets cut off) is hit by the spokes. That way you don't waste an otherwise good playing card. ;)
Hahaha nah... turns out it's a Youth Enduro race. So a bunch of kids and parents/coaches. It was a fun time! I didn't get sucked into too much work. I gave a ride up to the top of the mountain to one of the coaches in my side-by-side -- we strapped his bike to the back of it with bungees...
Well this is turning out to be a pretty cool weekend.
I'm camped on BLM land near Richfield, Utah. Today when I got back from town with some bike parts, I found a big gooseneck enclosed trailer and truck parked near where I was camped. It had a bunch of mtb stickers on it and a bunch of bikes...
I have a feeling this may not apply to stuff like bikes and OHVs, but there's the Magnussen-Moss Warranty Act that specifically says a manufacturer CANNOT deny warranty coverage unless they can prove that a part or modification was DIRECTLY responsible for an otherwise covered part's failure...
Government rarely takes the time to understand what it's actually doing with regard to regulations. We've already seen this with blanket e-bike bans all over the US. These people likely think that these are just electric motorcycles (even without throttles) designed to look like bicycles, and...
Sadly, American society has a bad case of "keeping up with the Jonses" going back 50+ years, where status is king. Too many people have the need to "feel superior" to the next guy. Why exactly, I don't know. It's what has led to a huge slew of problems in society, which I won't even begin to...
I was always taught that the proper seat height is when your leg is just barely bent when seated and the pedal is at the bottom of the stroke.
I've concluded the best "fix" for this issue is no fix at all; it goes plenty low in dropped position; it just goes up a bit too high, and since I can...
It really does boil down to ignorance. I rode my ebike for the first time yesterday (a real ride, not just around in a circle on flat ground) and even I saw the light. I was able to ride up a pretty steep graded dirt road, 2.7 miles one way, without stopping. On a regular mtb, I would have...
I think the height of the seat at full droop is fine... it's just high when fully extended. I just came back from my first ride (a whopping 5.42 miles -- remember, I'm 53 and in lousy shape) but half of that was uphill and I gained about 850' if I remember correctly from the app.
This thing is...
Hmmm..... S2 = 5'2 to 5'8... S3 = 5'5 to 5'11. The bike fits me perfectly except for the seat height. And I hadn't even adjusted the seat yet when I took that picture. I got it out of the trailer, rode it around about 100 yards, parked it and plugged it in to charge.
Years ago when I had my...
Thanks for the tip; I won't even go that far. I'll just let it back up, then adjust it back down a little as needed. If I have to stop to do so, I'll do that. I will eventually figure out what to do with it.
Appreciate the suggestions!! Now if the temps would just come up and the charging...
Thanks... I figured there was a reason why it couldn't be done. :)
I'm a little disappointed that the LBS didn't actually set it up "for" me. They just built it and said here, have fun and sent me on my way. Maybe they thought I was in a hurry to get going? I wasn't. All I got out of them...
Hey folks... I picked up my shiny new Turbo Levo Alloy yesterday in size S3. I'm 5'8 with a 29" inseam and like some other threads I've seen here, the seatpost is too tall, by about an inch, maybe inch and a half. This is for pedaling; I haven't even tried it in the low position for going...
I'm about to become an ebike owner... and of course I find out that ebikes aren't allowed on 99% of the trails. And from what I've read here and on other forums, it's mainly "because it has a motor." Which as we know is a stupid excuse. And a lot of it seems to come down to out-dated laws...
I've made the decision... Giant is out. I'm going to get the Specialized. Right now I'm trying to figure out how to afford the extra $2k for the Levo Comp Alloy, but I'm not sure I can pull it off. I love the Sage Green color too, but I may just be settling for the black Levo Alloy. I agree...
