Thanks for the input! I think I'm going to order a set. I'm getting the red elastomers installed and a second set of yellow ones (slightly softer) in case I want to change them; they're only $10 a set. My hands have been going numb while riding so I'm hoping this will help with that.
172 in street clothes, currently running 23 f/r (with tubes) on a Turbo Levo Alloy S3. 2.6 wide. Current tires are T9 Butcher front and T7 Eliminator rear. Once I swap tires, I'll drop to 20 psi and explore from there.
So it looks like this is the place to ask for tire advice. :)
The tires that came on my Turbo Levo Alloy aren't cutting it in the desert dry/loose conditions. I've washed out both ends several times and I'm still a noob so I'm not even going fast.
I'm considering the Maxxis DHR II for the...
Do you ever feel like your S3 is too big for you? You're I think 2cm taller than me but my short inseam and arms sometimes make me wonder if an S2 might have been better. Or I'm just too out of shape to know what to do with it... which is probably the case. :)
I'm surprised that the bulk of users are in my age range! I'm 53. And the second-largest group is the next group down.
'Course, it's all the young whippersnappers that are still riding them old-style "full manual" bicycles. ;)
Are you asking if I have evidence that tickets have been issued? If so, of course not. But I've read about the penalty in more than one place.
It's frustrating because I'm not that far from Park City and would love to pop up there for a few days and ride, but I'm not quite in the mood to...
Everybody I've talked to says that ebikes kick ass on downhill runs. I'm like RebornRider in terms of skill level, maybe not even up to that point just yet. For theft, I agree... I went ahead and insured mine. Got liability and also medical payments (since I don't have health insurance)...
I got mine in an S3 (in the Salt Lake City area)... I'm 5'8 with a 29" inseam and the S3 fits well. I wouldn't even want to consider an S4. In fact, I sometimes wonder if an S2 might have been a better choice. If you can find an S2 to sit on or test ride in the parking lot, give it a try...
100% agree!!
Only problem I can see with that is in Utah, at least two places -- Moab and Park City, they've made it a Class B Misdemeanor to ride an ebike on their precious non-motorized trails. Penalty is six months in jail, a big fat fine, and loss of your bike. A bit extreme, I think.
Despite what you might think, population is actually going to be decreasing. The birth rate in the US is down dramatically, and I saw a video recently talking about how China's population is about to nosedive due to their "one child" rule. Here in the US, the Baby Boomers are getting old and...
Not that it'll do any good, but I sent an email to both of my state senators yesterday (Arizona) asking them to tell the USFS to allow ebikes on trails. I haven't gotten their canned response yet. I did it after realizing that all of the cool trails around Sedona are managed by the USFS and of...
Assuming Specialized used good-quality cells, these batteries should easily last 5-7 years or more. I bought an "SOK" brand 206 amp-hour LiFePo4 battery for my RV a few months ago, and it came with a SEVEN year warranty. In addition, it comes in a metal case that can be opened so you can...
Hmm... very interesting point regarding being able to brake and shift at the same time. Okay... I'll give it a while longer and see how it goes.
BTW while I have you guys here, how are you with derailleur adjustments? My LBS is three hours away so I'd rather fix this myself if possible. The...
I love my new Turbo Levo Alloy. But I _hate_ the shifter. My other bike is a three-year-old Giant Talon (hardtail) which has Shimano shifters. I LOVE its shifters (it's a 3x8). The difference is that on the Giant, I upshift with my index finger, from above the bar. The shifter on the new...
