Ride carefully - I fell and had a life changing stroke!

Sadly I already have one, but I am not stable enough to be able to use it yet, as it is somewhat wobbly on carpet - I used a lot of specialist neurological recovery exercise bikes(in rehab), used from my wheelchair.

Ride carefully - I fell and had a life changing stroke!

Belated response to this - Fox Proframe with MIPS, less than 12 months old and no previous impacts. For the first time since the day I crashed I have just inspectedit for damage - absolutely nothing, just a bit of Sandy dirt in the side vents near the top right off the helmet. It’s difficult to...

Ride carefully - I fell and had a life changing stroke!

Helmet barely touched, no obvious damage. Has mips I think , though can’t really remember. The injury was a tear to the wall of m the carotid artery in my neck . Probably happened due to torque on my neck as back of my head bumped along the ground as I decelerated.

Ride carefully - I fell and had a life changing stroke!

Oh, and one addition, I am also having a cranioplasty op in October to repair the hole in my skull with this 3d printed titanium plate..! How cool is that! And no, because titanium is Non-ferrous I won’t set off the scanners at airports! A lot better than my current rubber helmet I am sure you...

Ride carefully - I fell and had a life changing stroke!

On the mend is a relative term. I can only walk with a stick at present, and my left arm is too weak and lacks the dexterity to to carry a drink in an open cup without spilling it, so I am more or less dependent on my wife to look after me at present, though i I can climb stairs now and am...

Ride carefully - I fell and had a life changing stroke!

I am45 now, was 44 at the time of the fall and subsequent stroke. I actually had my birthday on the ICU ward which was a truly shit experience. But I suppose my present this year was just being alive.

Ride carefully - I fell and had a life changing stroke!

Hi everyone. I used to contribute here actively a few years ago, but never got the money together to leap into eMTB, but continued to ride my traditional trail bikes. Unfortunately in February this year I fell on a trail at Rushmere country park after I took a wrong turning and went over a step...

Shimano Battery Issue (refused warranty claim) where do i stand?

How many miles of range and metres of elevation are you getting out of the bike before it goes flat? It may just be that the sensing of the battery voltage (which I'm guessing they use to estimate % capacity remaining) is wrong for some reason.

    Battery question

I agree with other posters that in the grand scheme of things you shouldn't worry about it given what else you have going on. However, if you do get a moment to discharge it even a bit vai one of the methods listed above I would do so, as ~6 months at full chare is a long time and could have...

    Selling e-bike online.

Yep, in the last few years here in the UK the times have really come down - even between different banks online transfers from a mobile app seem to take no longer than a minute now. The only exception is if I move stuff form a savings account with a challengeer bank into ny main current account...

Levo Gen 2 We can not use all the power of the battery

3V/cell would be a very aggressive cut-off voltage - look at the discharge curve on the average high power 18650, they are almost completely exhausted at that voltage... Remember these bikes are being sold in all sorts of climates. In colder countries you could easily permanently damage the...

Levo Gen 2 Where should I attach my maintenance stand ?

Yep, zero problems clamping in the seatpost - the seatclamp exerts way more force when tightened than the jaws will, and the weight of the bike is miles less than your body weight on the seatpost when riding.

Article Testing the new Shimano EP8 motor

If that is the case it seems unlikely the rattle alone is the cause of the recall; it also explains why Shimano got to this stage without it being flagged as a "no-go". The videos certainly make it sound worse than the Bosch, but I know the mic pickup can be unrepresentative. The plot thickens...

Article Testing the new Shimano EP8 motor

It's interesting that both the latest motors released from Bosch and Shimano have this rattle when descending. This adds credence to Shimano's statement that it is a compromise they've decided to make to enhance performance in other areas, but judging by the response online it is going to be a...

I know, we need to get @Gary on an EP8 equipped bike asap and see how quickly he can break the new bearings... ;)

Zermatt 2020 EWS E Bike racing has arrived.

3 batteries each? Hmmmmm.... Might this not be more interesting if they limited them to 2, then there would have to be some energy management going on as well? Even so I am kind of with Gary, I think it is difficult to look at this as credible sport unless they can find a way of equalising the...

    Buying a new e-bike in the U.K.

You are right that prices are likely to rise in the new year, but right now there are very few bikes to buy full stop. If you can find what you want and it is in stock then go for it, but most people are going to struggle to do that at the present time.

    commencal 2021

Read this article, it explains the rationale... “Vital: You've never been a fan of carbon bikes, and that's apparently not about to change any time soon either. Why is that? Max: There are only good reasons to not make carbon bikes! First of all, aluminum is more "eco-responsible". Second, we...
