are you sure its a CSU creak, have you checked and changed the headset bearings etc? the standard ones are shite and a good quality replacement is a must, I got about 6 months out of my OEM ones before the creaking got too much, a good set of bearings, a clean up and regrease and you're golden...
the gopro effect is unreal, we've all been to places we checked out on youtube only to find out they are way gnarlier when you're rubbing your nose in it :p
I made a considerable difference to my guide RE with decent brake pads - the CL VXR Pads and the Hope 2.3mm rotors. the standard rotors were shocking and would constantly warp on me as well.
one thing I still do with my brakes is bleed them regular, it makes a big difference.
