If you read enough stuff about battery fires you will find every scenario. They can catch fires when their not even being charged. My ebike batteries are in the bedroom cupboards. Laptops go up as well were all doomed , washing machines etc etc.
I had a dry 23 miler last week bike was still quite dirty , about the same as yours. I fitted one of those horrendous looking rear mudguards , so kept the trousers clean. It will only get worse quickly I'm thinking.

I nearly converted my tourer but bought a gravel ebike piddly 250 battery but it's cycleable on the flat with battery off. Tempting to convert it now though as wife uses gravel one as well . I could put a hub motor in it with a 1000 battery and do some touring. Too muddy in winter fed up...
