Yeah I'm limited with the Ego battery with how it looks. I'm going for a slightly different design, in order for a certain type of functionality (not saying yet as TQ might be watching ha!)
Cool project. I'm making a 14s1p battery from Samsung 50E. It should be 260Wh. I'm using a Bluetooth BMS for safety but it's not too bad to have a small pack like this without a BMS, especially the low power draw.
Happy to see some others out there making extended range packs for loads cheaper.
I'm looking as budget options to upgrade the 9.5 suspension which is currently in for a service due to an air leak.
Option 1: $500 USD (new)
- Fox Performance 36 taken from a 9.7 Fuel EX (not EXe): Float EVOL air spring, GRIP damper, 180mm steerer, 44 mm offset, Boost110, 15 mm Kabolt axle...
The cells in the Ego battery are Samsung 25r, they are actually better suited for high amperage (25A) uses rather than capacity (2500mAh). We really only need a few amps but maximum capacity.
I think it would take more time and effort to cut the tabs off of the cells and rearrange eveything...
After successfully finishing the eXTernal Mod design, I have started work on an external 260Wh battery, and further down the line maybe an external 160Wh battery.
This battery will be built in house and will be as light weight, compact and as aesthetically pleasing as possible, while not...
I know my eXTender Mod (external battery adapter) works on L and XL frames, but can someone with a small or medium frame please measure the following parts for me?
The tricky part is that the Exe (TQ system) is a higher voltage system. It's great as it's technically more efficient, but it makes it different to most other 42/36v systems.
The Ego battery or eXTender Mod aren't the most aesthetically pleasing, but they are durable and readily available...
Possibly, but it would need to be adapted for another battery as the Orbea Rise uses a 42v system (battery fully charged) rather than a 58v system.
It would likely need a full redesign, that's if the bike even accepts an external battery.
This is a solution for some to add 30-40% range eXTender Mod for Fuel EXe (Ego battery adapter).
I was told today by a dealer that NZ won't see the TQ range extender until June now (another delay)
A friend took my bike for a ride on a flat gravel track and the screen cracked.
Could have just been a fluke stone and I'll buy a replacement (I even had the screen protector still on it) but I'm just checking this isn't a first gen issue that TQ are addressing as I've seen others with cracked...
Firstly, I appreciate your feedback.
I would however argue that it is stronger in design than the TQ range extender, which sits like a bottle and could be levered off easier. My wrap around design has not failed yet on some big crashes, and if it did, high chances that it would be the 3d...
A friend got a price from Torpedo 7 for a replacement 360Wh battery and it was $2k. I can get away with 500Wh total but if you need 700Wh total it's pricey...
