You'll need a programming cable and the Bafangs bbs tuning program or the Speeed app. Lots of guides on how to do it. Google Bafangs BBS tuning/re-programming. Yes they're cadence sensing but you use all 9 power levels to your advantage..
Four clamps, it's no biggy other than aesthetics. The Slates aren't bad brakes, it's the stock pads that are garbage, swap them for some semi metallics. I've been using cheap SOMMET semi metallics from Amazon, about £17 for 4 sets they're the same fitment as Shimano Saint BR-M810 M820 Zee...
Have you re-programmed your Bafangs? The stock programming isn't great for mountain biking as it drops the power off when it detects your cadence is at a constant. It does this because it presumes your on road bike/commuter on flatish ground and just cruising.
Tyres are back on sale at Merlin's (UK), just ordered another Michelin E-Wild (rear 39 x 2.6) at £35+ postage (£38.50 total). Lots of other brands on sale!
I'm using one of those Amazon ATSafepro 1/4" torque wrenches, seems fine and after checking it out on my works torque wrench calibration rig, it's accurate to about 5- 10%, which is OK, not the best but perfectly acceptable. Around £25.
I did the same on a steep uphill (no injury, luckily) last year. Climbing up Chee Dale to Wormhill (Derbyshire off the Monsal Trail) I had the bike in boost, went around a switchback, the back wheel slipped on wet grass, then gripped but over steered, put my foot down on a clump of clover to...
I had a similar problem, new chain, only 3mm and a bit stretch over 60" on the old chain, so naff all, but the new chain catched / refused to play nicely in 8th. I played with the mech screws and eventually found a position that was better but in no way perfect, it would still catch the larger...
Probably locked to stop d'heads on motorbikes... but the farmer had made a stile at the side of the gate out of RSJ's unfortunately it was only about 8 wide AND the same height as the gate with the step about 16" up. I double checked on the map and yeh it's supposed to be a bridleway.
If you take the wheels off (and if your carrying an Allen key) then a) you have further to lift the bike, and b) you need longer arms to lower the bike down the other side. And the field side of farm gates are notorious for being a foot deep in mud (and cattle muck) and taking your wheels off...
Ha, yes, I came across a locked gate on a bridleway only a week or two back. The problem was my side of the gate was a foot lower than the other side of the farmers gate where I wanted to go, therefore making the top of the gate over 5ft and impossible for me (I'm 5'8") to oik the bike over it...
I gave up on bells, as mentioned above, some walkers can't hear them due to age/hearing range loss, others have earbuds/headphones on, some of those that do hear you (eventually ) accuse you of ringing your bell 'aggressively' or start doing the (usually older women) dance when they can't decide...
TLR means tubeless ready, your wheel rims will need taping and a tubeless valve (probably already fitted?) and of course you'll need tubeless sealant, graphene 2 is Vittoria' s MTB rubber compound (harder wearing and faster rolling allegedly) What Pro means I have no idea. Your rims are...
Shimano EP8 walk mode is pants on mine, about 2.5mph...your on a steep gnarly climb beyond your experience and engage walk mode, the front wheel drops over a stone, bolder, into a gully whatever, the bikes momenteraly accelerated and kills the walk assist with the rear wheel stuck on said...
Schwalbe do a range of gravel tyres, G Ones in various widths 35mm to 57mm (approx 2.25"). Or Vittoria make some great lighter cased tyres for mixed fast rolling tarmac and off road at 2.35" width. But the Schwalbe gravel tyres are road bike 700C not 29" (both on 622mm rim diameter) so you'll...
