As the title says, I had my YT Decoy stolen recently in a burglary (Salford) Some tramp decided to let themselves in my house whilst I was asleep and help themselves to my bike. The bike had a tracker but unfortunately the tracker was dumped, albeit in a notorious area. Not expecting to get it back but the more eyes on social media etc may come across someone trying to sell it on let’s make it too hot to handle. Cheers.

In my experience the cops won't be interested. If you're claiming on your insurance then do that & move on, otherwise there's a few things you can do. See if YT bikes check in with YT when they're switched on. No idea if they do but Specialized do & geolocate themselves. Guess how I found that out...

You can set up search alerts on Ebay & Facebook etc. but finding a bike is one thing, confronting a thief is another. Bike thieves are scum.

I’m actually waiting for the day someone decides to let themselves into my house, I’ve been dying to see if all the training my dogs have been through pays off.

My mate down in Edinburgh had a brand new £30k Ducati stolen out of his garage, the cops didn’t even bother. They did a report to give him a number for his insurance and told him to claim it and left.

To be fair the cops were pretty good with me and I’m not a fan of them. The tracker was pinging on traveller site. They came and picked me up with a van full of tactical aid and raided the site. Unfortunately the bike wasn’t there and the tracker had been discarded there purposely id imagine to make it look like the travellers had done it.

I thought this too but they don’t care, if they want it they will take it. Unfortunately that’s the world we live in and then you’ll find yourself in trouble for the dog attacking them. Sad world really.

Mine too mate nothing worse. Winds me up that someone had the audacity to come into my house whilst I was asleep. Makes it worse than I’d only been to sleep for half an hour when they came in! So close to catching them. Seems to be the same person/people who have been doing it in my area for the last 12 months or so had a fair bit of info from people on Facebook, Doorbell footage etc. Always a Thursday night and always the same guy on camera, same method of entry etc. Won’t be long until they become unstuck.

Sorry to hear this. I’ll keep an eye out over the East of the Pennines. It’s a heck of a bike that so should be easy to spot.

Did they break in forcibly, or was a door unlocked. It’s very brazen.

They forced their way in through the patio. However they had been in my garage first and then come back to go in the house. I don’t think they came just for the bike specifically as they took some petty bits from the garage first like my drill and my step sons carrera then came back to go in the house. Once they had mine they dumped the carrera at the end of the road so luckily got that back for the boy. Had some info that stolen bikes from the Manchester area may be being taken to Leeds and sold there and vice versa so appreciate you keeping an eye out.

Sorry to hear you've had your bike stolen, I was burgled in August 2024, fortunately they left without getting any of my bikes as I had invested in a Hiplok AX1000 and 2 DX1000's, together they secure all 3 of my bikes in an internal garage, I also isolate the power to the garage door when not in use and secure the door with a ground anchor and lock.

The police were great, a full SOCO team visited my home, dusted for prints and took photographs, there and then they identified the pattern of the gloves they used were different to those I use when using and cleaning my bike.
They visited again the following day with a free kit to apply to my valuables which has a unique DNA registered to my home address so if the worse did happen and the goods located the police would know who they belong to and where.

The Hiplok products saved me from losing my bikes, they didn’t take anything so the police think I was targeted, but it shows that further securing your bikes in your garage or home is something we should all be doing as unless you have insured your bike on a separate policy you're unlikely to receive the true value of your bike from the insurance companies if at all.

Careful, there is a fine line between defense and offense. In most UE country, if your dog do damage to a thief, you might avoid criminal prosecution. The thief will face justice for trying to steal, but he can try to prosecute you especially if the damage are important to his body.

It happens that in some cases, death, partial invalidity, down owner has to pay for reparation.

Crazy as it sounds right. In my case with Huskies, I failed to see if they would not try to play with the new guy instead of trying to battle :D

Wow! That's a grands worth plus of locks, still, guess they paid for themselves in your case.
I have more modest locks and wall anchors on my three bikes. They are however kept without batteries and wheels fitted so no one is riding them off.
My internal garage also has an independent alarm which sends my secret weapon to sort them out, my wife, she'll rip them to shreds.

Sounds like your wife is a better deterrent than my locks, anything to slow them down is time well spent.
You're right in that the locks are expensive but a worthy investment compared to the cost of 3 e-bikes, I have more faith in the Hiplok set up than having to deal with insurance companies.

My bike was normally kept chained to a ground anchor in the garage but due to doing some work on the house the garage has been rammed full of stuff so the bike was temporarily kept inside..just my luck. If it had been chained up I doubt they would have managed to get it without waking someone.

Bit of good news however I managed to pick myself up a new rig today, spec wise not as good as the YT but it’s still a belter. Managed to get a Kenevo expert on sale at leisurelakes for under 5k. Just waiting for a different coil spring to come for my weight then I’ll be back out for some laps thankfully.
