Hi all, I’ve just taken delivery of my Orbea Wild M Team 2024. i have to say what a bike! I’m setting up my suspension and I have no idea how to adjust the high speed rebound with the shock being inverted. Surely I don’t have to remove the shock to adjust it? thanks in advance everyone

This is what ChatGPT had to say on the subject:

Adjusting the high-speed rebound on the inverted shock of your 2024 Orbea Wild M Team can be challenging due to limited access to the adjustment controls. The FOX FLOAT X2 Factory shock, standard on this model, features both high-speed and low-speed rebound adjustments. When inverted, these controls may be harder to reach.

Steps to Adjust High-Speed Rebound:

  1. Identify the Adjustment Knob: Locate the high-speed rebound adjuster on the shock. In the inverted position, this knob might be positioned closer to the frame, making it less accessible.
  2. Accessing the Adjuster:
    • Without Removing the Shock: Depending on the frame design and available space, you might be able to access the adjuster using a long, angled tool or by carefully maneuvering your hand into the space.
    • Removing the Shock: If access is too restricted, you may need to partially or fully remove the shock from the frame to make the necessary adjustments.
  3. Making Adjustments:
    • Turn the high-speed rebound adjuster knob in small increments, noting the number of clicks or turns.
    • Test the bike's performance after each adjustment to evaluate the effect.

Additional Tips:
  • Consult the Shock Manual: Refer to the FOX FLOAT X2 user manual for detailed instructions on adjusting rebound settings.
  • Seek Professional Assistance: If you're unsure about making these adjustments or if access remains problematic, consider consulting a professional bike mechanic or an authorized Orbea dealer.
Properly adjusting your shock's high-speed rebound is crucial for optimal performance and safety. Ensure that any adjustments are made carefully and tested thoroughly before riding.

Me again! Well at least it's aware of the problem! I use ChatGPT regularly on a wide variety of topics and it is definitely a lot better these days than the early iterations were. I could confuse it with pub quiz questions and I definitely would not want it to be doing my exam theses for me. But even then, I could see its value as a productivity tool. It could give you a great place to start, saving 80% of the work. It is even better now.

Thanks for that, I’ll try and give it a go on the bike. Wanted to go to my local trail and do some bracketing, but Fox and Orbea aren’t making this easy 😂

It is a safe to assume that the shock has to be mounted that way to avoid fouling the frame? Many bikes can have the shock mounted either way up without a problem.

When I changed shocks on a previous bike, mounting the shock upside down was recommended to avoid the external reservoir hitting the occasionally fitted spare battery. But all I had to do was to move the external spare battery mount up the downtube and I could keep the shock upright. The shock was equally happy in any orientation (I know that because I asked the makers of the shock).

I miss the days of simpler adjustments. 😂

What is content of this s**t? It may be, or may not be difficult, depends of the frame. Bring the bike to shop😏 I mean, guy ask how to adjust rebound of his shock.

Adjusting high or low speed rebound on a shock is of course easy and it's all over YouTube to make it even easier. The OP frames his question as though he is a beginner either to emtb, Orbea, shocks or upside-down mounting. (Or he would not be asking the question). His problem is not adjusting rebound per se, it is adjusting it when the shock is upside down making access difficult. All he needed was some reassurance.

I know the challenges of the Wild shock adjusters. As I have Float X, i can not answer, unfortunately. Maybe somebody who have the bike and the shock can chime in. But this artificial retardness stuff is amazing, beyond stupidity :ROFLMAO:

Edit. have you try with 2mm hex key? HSR adjuster should have holes for the key
