Hi guys, thinking of selling my 2019 Focus Jam2 Carbon frame 9.6 Plus.
It's done 2,500 miles. Been regularly maintained with all drive chain parts replaced at least once. Pretty good condition and would come with the TEC external range extender battery.
What sort of price should I expect?

That's a toughie I sold exactly that spec and year, complete with the extra TEC pack.

Mine was new in Jan 2019 and was above standard spec (Pike Ultimate instead of a Revelation). I sold it via eBay in Aug'21 for £2950. It had 3150 miles on the clock. I was selling the TEC pack separately, but the buyer of the bike bought it for £250. Total £3200. I considered myself lucky to get that, the pandemic was still on and the demand for bike of all kinds had rocketed.

I would recommend selling them separately as there seems to be a high demand (or at least there was) for TEC packs.

I normally tell myself that bikes depreciate at 30% per year. But that was mtbs, not emtbs. You are going to need all sorts of documentation about the motor and battery health. But don't forget that not everyone is as clued up about ebikes as we are on the Forum. My buyer for example. He was going to use the bike for commuting in London and didn't even want the hard compound tyres that I was also selling. I have no idea how he got on with the grippy 3C tyres that were on the bike, because he never got back to me with any comment, good or bad. Just a very praiseworthy comment on eBay.

You can no longer sell ebikes of any kind on eBay, so you can no longer test the price on there either. All a bit of a bummer. There must be other places, like Pinkbike Classifieds?

What the buyer of mine liked was two things: One was that I had a complete history and maintenance record of the bike and had showed all the things that were not perfect about it (in addition to the usual big-up).
The second was that I had arranged for collection from my LBS. They had done some work on the bike and they knew that I had looked after it. I left the buyer alone with the LBS guy and they chatted.

You cant sell bikes on eBay ? Is that for real? Why on earth not?

I have not seen the reason written down, maybe you have now you have used Google. It's a proper nuisance because I used to use eBay to test all sorts of things: what words in the title got the biggest search response, what was the going selling price for specs like my item, what descriptions were used (I would copy and use as a template), which items were selling quickly (I used "Watch List" for that).

PS: Is it me or has "Buy It Now" taken over from Auction? Everything I have looked at recently was a fixed price or near offer.

I have no idea. I had assumed that as eBay is a global enterprise that a decision such as removing an entire class of a product would be taken at a global level and implemented accordingly. So following your query, I have just checked on eBay as I was already logged in. To my surprise there were dozens of emtbs for sale in the UK! By that I mean the seller is in the UK.
I have no explanation for this.

Or maybe they are not private sellers? (I didn't notice when I looked and I can't be arsed to look now).

That may be the case, but if it is true, then why no such concern in other countries? Puzzled.

It said something to do with battery fires etc. Only business sellers are permitted to sell on eBay.
I think you are right about the lack of auctions in general. I recon its todays must have it now society. Cant be arsed waiting 7 days!

I recommend collection only. Any reputable buyer would want to at the very least throw a leg over it and have a close inspection before paying.
eBay has a procedure for collections. It involves the funds being protected and a code being issued. Only when all is well and the bike accepted are the funds released and the sale is concluded. I can't recall who gets the code and who has to do what. But eBay gives all sorts of guarantees. Selling a high value item like a bike on eBay is fraught.
