Hi Everybody,
Since my last post under (my problem) i have had a few ups and downs but now feeling a lot better and at the last meeting with the consultant the PSA level was greatly reduced so going in the right direction. I had a UTI which set me back quite a lot but all ok now.
Recently put the battery in the bike and did all the upgrades that came up all went ok until i tried walk mode nothing i tried worked so could somebody tell me the correct procedure just in case i have forgotten after all the time off the bike.
A ride out is now getting closer but i will have to work out how to accommodate my catheter which i have had since September when i was in hospital.
Some new trousers will be needed because of the weight loss that has happened due to the cancer and loss of appetite. My current Fox Flexair and Defend Fire were becoming a little slack even before i was diagnosed.
Will report when i manage to go for a ride but at least i am walking the dog again, not as far as i used to but gradually increasing the distance.
Cheers for now.

A little off-topic but Captain of our ole-timers hockey team(35-50 yrs) was diagnosed with colon cancer. On his return he wore a special jersey with a large red X ❌ on it. The opposing team was warned to not hit him…or else. He was required to wear a bag at all times.

We all became comfortable with his new rigging and we desperately needed his skills (almost Pro level). But he adapted and so did the hockey league.

Best wishes for your recovery. (y)
By the way; ref getting your leg over. Don't forget that you can drop the saddle before trying.
I do this and I've only got a dodgy hip.

Hi,
There some options out there, i am waiting to see the oncologist on the 18th of this month so something may be suggested then. Thanks for your input. I had colon cancer 10 years ago and i was lucky i did not need a bag afterwards. Now it is terminal prostrate cancer which has spread to the bones so slightly more serious.
Cheers,
Mick

Caught it quick thankfully and had the bastard hauled out.
Have to use Tenaman Pads for riding. Seems to work :)
Shortly I will be performing my weekly drill of shovin a catheter up right up my tadger into the bladder !
This stops the urethra from closing up !
Life is grand when yer 74!!
Get a PSA check every year guys.
Might save your life !!

Mick - as someone noted - to engage the walk mode u push the walk assist and then push the plus button. However you have to keep continued pressure on the plus button to keep it engaged - will cut out uf u release it - I just had a flat a mile from home so decided to walk my LIV (by Giant) home to fix the flat in a warm house rather than doing on the road. Was 20 degrees F out so was wearing gloves. It was difficult to walk along side the bike and hold the plus button at the same time. Kept going out of walk mode when I apparently let up on the plus button. Ended up only using when going uphill - does help to counter the weight of the bike.

On my 2022 Reign you have to push the middle button twice and then keep the top button pressed to engage walk assist. Pushing it once doesn’t work

Interesting - Guess it depends on which control unit and/or display u have. I have a Ride Control Ergo 2 Controller and a Ride Control Evo Display. The Ergo 2 has a separate walk assist button on the side of the unit and the top button is the plus assistance up button. Here's page from my manual - H is the walk assist button and D the power assist up one. When engaged it reads accordingly on the displ

Hi,
I am permanetly using the catheter. i use a leg bag in the day and of course a night bag. I have twice tried a twoc(trial without catheter) under hospital supervision and failed both times due to retention, could only manage a few trickles . If i have a problem i can call the nurses who will come out change the cathetef

Hi,
My catheter is with me at all times due to retention , leg bag for daytime and of course a night bag. i have tried going without but failed both times could only manage a dribble both times so hospital replaced the catheter the last time with a larger diameter tube. It does help with by-passing. I use a pad all the time due to by-passing and peace of mind i use a ladies one which seems to work ok . I will have to work out the best method when ready to ride again. Do use the pad with padded liner shorts or normal underwear when riding. Do not fancy self catheterising i call the nurses when i need to and they come round to change it usually due to a blockage.
With you on the PSA check although my symptoms were fatigue , loss of appetite and a sudden bout of joint pain. I put it down to age and arthritis which i have anyway. It is obvious something bad was going on but i just ignored it till it was to late.
Cheers for now and keep pedaling, will update as and when.
Cheers,
Mick
