The Neuron:ON is the less aggressive, shorter travel Canyon model. In under two years, we’ve seen the full-power Neuron:ON CF and mid-power Neuron:ONfly being introduced. Both are 29er bikes with 140 mm suspension travel.
For the last couple of years, the Neuron:ON was almost exclusively...
Don’t get me wrong, the Kado isn’t an old bike. It’s a brand-new model from Whyte, and it comes with the latest Bosch CX motor and batteries of either 600 or 800 Wh. This is a detachable battery, which seems to be less common these days. And you can of course add the 250 Wh range extender too...
Mondraker was among the first traditional bike manufacturers to embrace ebikes. All the way back in 2016, they had three models. The full suspension 140 mm travel e-Crafty was probably the most popular one. But does anyone remember the e-Panzer fatbike or the e-Vantage hardtail? All bikes had a...
I received a question a few weeks ago, and I decided I wanted to answer it. It’s off-season after all. If you've got a question, send it to me and perhaps I'll make a video/article about it.
Yeah, there is a bit of talk about these two types of sensors. In most cases, on a factory built ebike...
When doing our first 12-speed chain test, wearing the chains down to 0.5%. We did several measurements to see how the chain wear developed. It was pretty much linear. Perhaps the chain needs to be more worn before we see any accellerated degradation.
I could have made it more obvious I guess (: It's only mentioned in the picture text."
"The lightly maintained Sram X1 chain was over 1 year old and was replaced by the KMC e10 EPT"
We’ve tested 12-speed Shimano chains before and that wasn’t too much work. With minimum maintenance and maximum motor assistance, we could finish the test in months. Not this time though. 10-speed chains last longer. And these are both ebike-specific chains, which usually means heavier and more...
The difference is huge. Previously, there was a short but noticeable shove. But it was a bit difficult accessing it as it would cancel if you backpedaled ever so slightly. Now, you're allowed to move the pedals back a bit. I try to illustrate the behavior in this video.
The EP801 vs the CX gen4 Smart System?
The EP800 and EP6 are generous motors at lower cadence, meaning you get lots of power even though you're pedaling slowly with little force. But those motors drop off as you approach 100 rpm, so it feels weaker when going fast. The EP801 maintains the low...
A poll was posted on a big Norwegian emtb facebook group. There are limitations to facebook surveys, but the guy posting it found a nice solution. People got to vote on the brand they own and if they ever had the motor replaced under warranty. The facebook group and poll are mainly about factory...
We were quite surprised to read about the new lightweight Canyon Spectral:ONfly coming with the TQ HPR50 motor. Shouldn’t it come with the Bosch Performance SX 55 Nm motor that is found on the Neuron:ONfly? Wouldn’t it have made more sense the other way around, putting the lighter motor on the...
I don't think 36 vs 48 V makes much of a difference in this application. In most cases, the power wire is very short so increasing the gauge doesn't carry much of a weight penalty.
Interesting graph, did they make one that shows Nm rather than percent of max output too? And it would be...
