Which is impressive, as where I ride, Forbidden are a popular choice, for a small brand & there are a lot of people with cracked bikes.
Myself, cracked a V1 Dreadnought, and I’ve been through two lots of seat stays on a V2 Druid, a riding friend who is supported by Forbidden goes through...
The ownership prospect (in the UK at least) swings things hugely in the favour of Santa Cruz though. From a warranty perspective, Transition are diabolical to deal with.
Layer in the likehood of needing warranty support, the ownership prospect of a Transition again brings me out in a cold...
We did this a couple of years ago, only we did it in 1 hour. 1000m ascent/descent & you cannot ride the same trail twice
We managed 1030m, every climb was a Z5 heart rate effort & it was a wild bit of fun.
So, in reference to your previous point, where it was ‘very conservative’ its actually very similar to the Levo, which is apparently the ‘most up to date brand’ with its geometry?
In reference to your points, comparing S4/L, which is what I was doing.
1. The Rail is 77.1 degrees, the Levo is...
Of course these things are subjective. But comparing a large Gen4 Rail to an S4 Levo:
- Rail is longer reach
- Higher stack
- HTA comparable in stock settings, if you run a 170 fork on the Rail is 63.8 degrees
- STA is steeper on the Rail
- WB is longer too
- Bigger battery on the Rail
I’d...
I would say my Gen4 Rail is quieter than my old ‘20 bike. It’s also quieter than my other half’s ‘21 Rail (less rattle & motor noise).
The battery is a ‘very’ tight fit compared to past bikes.
Not being American, I cannot even pretend to understand why its illegal to ride an ebike in some areas, yet it’s fine to walk around with an assault rifle. 🤦♂️
I’m assuming it all relates to land access/usage?
It’s not really about the amount of travel it’s got, it’s more with how it uses it, which for the average rider at average speeds is probably fine & would be fine in those places.
Personally, I found it almost impossible to get the bike feeling balanced, as when pushing on (or the couple of...
Spending bias certainly is real.
IMO the Gen3 Levo is absolutely not progressive enough for anyone riding at pace, or hard to run a coil. I posted before it was even a thing with Cascade developing a ‘long shock’ kit for it, to address some of the issues (namely there isn’t enough progression &...
My eeb is my least used bike. Have a Spur which is my most used, then my longer travel bike.
It’s not that the KSL is a bad bike, (it’s really good!). It’s just not as good as the others. If I had to get rid of one, the KSL would be the first out the door.
Most of that is the more known off piste which is commutable from the cycle centre. They are generally the easier trails & show up on the heat maps above, but as they don’t exist as segments, trying to make head or tail of it, is challenging if you aren’t a regular/local.
If you aim for the hot...
Just because it’s stiffer, it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s better. Some flex and compliance is a good thing when riding down trails.
For the same reason why people don’t run carbon wheels & complain about the harsh ride. Other than they break, too easily 😆
