There's been lots of discussion about this in the Trek forum. Based on most of the comments I'd say riders are not using the o-ring any longer to prevent the lock nut from backing off under load.
Using WD40 isn't that expensive and it does help to keep corrosion down. Just keep it away from brakes and tires. Also good for wiring and such. Salt is wicked stuff!
With all the CRAP Cali has to deal with chances of these regs being enforced are next to zero. Just returned from spending a couple months riding in So CA on an analog bike. Lots of various rides both on and off road. So far as regulations go, where I was in the OC and LA counties - forget...
Tubeless is a mindset, once you get locked in and find out how well it works you won't go back. I'm actually in process of converting a moto as well. At first you'll be a little awkward but once you get the routine it's piece of cake.
Also, welcome back to riding again, from a guy who broke...
It's that time of year. Here we have star thistle, and poison oak. Oak being the worst IMO as it's the gift which keeps on giving. Might not even show up for a day or two. Oil can get on your tires, frame or clothes then bite you later. The stuff is evil!
If you live close to a YT Mill showroom they'll let you ride all you want. In the dirt too! If I were looking to buy I'd give it a try. Bikes are priced right - factory direct. Don't have their eMTB Decoy myself but did buy one of their Szepter gravel bikes last year and like it a lot.
This was the first tire change for my Rail 7. Have plenty of course knowledge on moto and bike tires in 50+ years to know when something isn't right. There was no way the Schwalbe BB's were going to mount with the TLR strip. Could get one side on but there wasn't enough room to get both side...
Exactly what I needed to hear before destroying something. There's no way to get the bead to drop down enough with that crazy Trek strip in there. Who's idea was that TLR ? What a wanker!
This forum is an experienced bunch for the most part, what we're talking about here is the changing landscape of personal transportation beyond automobiles. I for one am tir'd of government in my life. They're everywhere! There's more than enough laws in most countries already. Thankfully my...
There's definitely going to be some changes coming, in some areas it's pretty serious. Recently riding in the OC of So. CA any bike trail was off the hook with out of control eBikes. Don't see it the same with eMTB's so much as those riders are generally more seasoned. Around OC beach areas...
Get well soon! Sounds like you'll have some healing time but it could've always been worse! Curious as to how the riding is in your area? Grew up riding the back roads all around there but never any off road.
