Haven't rode that on an ebike yet, but one of my favorite rides. Across to Kinloch for lunch then back. Usually the day after Tree Trunk Gorge & Pillars of Hercules. Going to enjoy all of those on my Levo once the weather warms up some.

Just don't do it mid winter. We had a ride there for 4 or 5 years for out group on the shortest day weekend and even though we never managed to get a snow ride it was freaking cold and miserable. Not sure I would want to try to cross the stream on a ebike until summer. Regular bikes you can carry across one of the downed trees.
Spectacular views of some wonderful scenery & recommend visiting the dam on the Tongariro. We usually get dropped off at the SH1 intersection and ride back to Turangi along the river after the 2 trail sections.
