Has anyone tried to replace their headset bearings on the 2020 Spectral ON?.
Not sure how you remove the knock block that sits below the lower bearing race?? Any advice greatly received.
Also what are the bearing references. I think I’d better get those before I get the big hammer out!!!!

I replaced mine with the Chris King setup. They are press fit so you have to use the right removal tools. I kept the stock setup on the top for now but have the replacement bearing.

Does the Block lock and bearing separate or are they just one unit that needs to be replaced?? Would be interested in the Chris King replacement. What is the reference?.
By the way the bike looks excellent! Loving the 38’s with the orange fox stickers!! ?
Looks miles better than mine which is still all stealth!! Post some more pics??

The bearing is encased in the Block Lock (one unit). I had reached out to Canyon Tech Support about the bearing sizing as the drawings do not state. Here are the sizes:
  • Upper bearing = ZS / 44
  • Lower bearing = IS 52
Nice bike, BTW! ??

Got a few pictures from Canyon of the block lock lower headset bearing on the 2020 Spectral ON for reference.
To replace the bearing you will need to drive the cup out of the frame (this is reusable) once out of the frame the bearing can be removed quite easily by banging on a smooth hard surface edge so the lock insert is hanging over the edge. The silver lock pin can then be placed on a new bearing first then pressed back into the frame with the lock pin aligned with the slot in the cup.

Do you know if the upper headset cup in the 2020 Spectral ON:CF is replaceable? It looks to me like it may be molded into the CF frame. I have the Chris King (CK) INSET 2 Headset and would really like to be able to install the upper headset assembly (the headset cup is part of the CK assembly). Any input would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I’m pretty sure, like you say, it is a moulded part of the frame. From memory it looked like it was carbon fibre when I cleaned mine up? I certainly didn’t try to remove it. I have just replaced the bearing with a standard ZS44 bearing from a local supplier with no issues.

Thanks. Definitely don’t want to jack up my CF frame. I did the same, but the CK setup is so much better.

I found a solid solution. I had a Cane Creek 110 headset already and installed the upper portion. Works perfect! ??

Hi! Thanks for the pictures, that really clarifies it.
Any tips on how to drive out the cup? It does not seem to be such a straightforward job...
I have a 2023 Spectral:ON and need to replace the lower bearing. The assembly appears to be the same.
All the best
