I was lucky to be getting one of the 1st 2020 Power 29 in Australia 4 weeks ago, and now is the time to think about modifications or refinement to that bike. So I thought that I start a thread about mods done to your 2020 Power 29. Maybe a different can be started for 2020 Power SX, as the specs are quite different.

Initial modifications done to mine:
1. Specialized bottle cage with side entry. Can easily fit a 500ml and can squeeze in a 700ml bottle
2. Tubeless with a extra Huck Norris insert in the back
3. Zefal front enduro guard. 1st time using that guard, it works so much better that half one, can notice the difference in the wet, my face stayed clean :D
4. Crank brothers Stamp composite pedals
5. Garmin mount on the stem

For now, I am happy with that setup. The bike is well specced.
I was surprised that the Magic Mary were only 2.35, and would prefer 2.6, but so far they are been performing

Would be interesting in the development of people’s mod’s as to find out what to do when I finally get mine in about 5 weeks time :p
I’ve been thinking of doing the following:
  • 2,6 MM instead of the 2,35 that’s stock on the bike
  • Foil the battery cover in red foil as the bike ;)
  • Tubeless for sure
  • Shorten cables to get a tidy cockpit
  • Heli tape on exposed parts
  • Crank boots - probably change to Miranda crank arms
  • RockShox Reverb Stealth 200 mm dropper
  • 220 rotor in front

  • Like

2.35 tyres looks small of that XL Commencal. Needs 2.6 for sure.
Interesting, I just ordered some new 2.6 Eddy Current today and will mount them tubeless with a Huck Norris inserts.
I agree that the cables are too long, will need to add that to my list.
Crank boots: what sort ?
The Lev Integra dropper is playing up and I am about to sent it back to Commencal Australia to fix it...will give update on the progress of that.

I am still waiting for mine to ship hopefully next week! First mod for sure will be a swap from a set of handlebars with more rise and probably in red because why not.......

I already have a set of red one up pedals waiting as well as e thirteen red tubeless valves. What can I say guess I really like red!

@Dpickin1 It seems like yours are in the same batch as mine. My first shipment date was the 15th Then they changed it to the 19th.
I also have a new pair of red Nukeproof Horizon pedals :)

I'm in the 19th batch as well. Two bikes. His'n'hers

I've got a big stash of parts that have come off other bikes so I could get into changing out a few things but main plan is helitape, tubeless and mudhuggers. Maybe some crank boots. Parts I may prioritise will be contact points. Won't know if the bar shape suits until I get my hands on it. I prefer fatter grips.

My enduro bike is a similar size/travel 29er on Lyrik/Super Deluxe so I'm hoping it will all start to feel familiar pretty quickly.

I've got hold of an ew-en100 so may experiment with a screenless clean cockpit. Our use will mostly be shuttling rather than big excursions so if I see a red light and I'm down to 20% I can just wrap up my lap and head back in.

A big part of the two bikes plan was compatibility to swap batteries; if it's just one of us we've got a spare battery from the other bike ready to go. May eventually look into a third battery so one of us can drain the first battery to 50% and swap out and have it as backup for whoever needs. GF is a "boost" addict while I'll likely trim back the assist levels. I'm heavier but she'll burn battery faster.

Finally got a contribution to this thread. Slightly trimmed Mudhugger FRX fitted at the rear (a la Sam Hill). Bit of helitape action going on in there as well...

And both sorted with moto brake orientation, shortened cables/hoses and a bit of cable tidying spiral wrap...

What kind of range are you guys getting out of the Meta? The signature version out shortly looks amazing, just curious how the 500 battery would go, planning on doing big rides.

Anyone having issues with their dropper post ?
Mine has been sticky, not always going all the way up, even after servicing it

I am now looking at replacing the dropper post, it looks like One Up components V2 model is getting good review.
Any other dropper worth considering ?

I have nothing to offer you in regards to alternatives, but I do recall reading the dropper on the Meta Power being a point of weakness.

Let us know how you go, I’ve thought about replacing mine also.

PNW makes a quality dropper. I own both a pnw dropper and one up v2. They both work great. I use the one up more had to get it serviced cause it was sticking. Mechanic who worked on it said it was the easiest dropper he'd serviced. Both have a small amount of play like all droppers.
