Myself, @Jonny2 @ChilternsMTB and @eebit visited Alpe D’Huez and the Mega.

Was an amazing experience. Some gnarly rocks, ice, snow, rooty forest sections and epic views.

Can an amateur do the Megavalanche? On a Haibike AllMtn eBike!!

Completed the full ebike mega race in 1 hour 26 mins with a couple of GoPro faffing stops.

Can’t wait for 2020 Mega to do it all again.

Legends! Which bike did you end up using for the race itself?
I used the AllMTN 7.5 which has 160 / 150. Reach a little bit shorter than what I’m used to but it is super agile and nimble which came into its own in the switchback sections and forest area.

Looks amazing ! Great pics, thanks Rob & the guys.

Might want to edit the thread title though, I think it's Megavalanche, not Megavalence.

"Megavalance on e-bikes" sounds like you're proposing we all disguise out e-bikes with drapery. I'm not saying your idea isn't great and definitely something to consider for the future, especially as our bikes get older - it could be like a poor mans "bike wrap" .. I think at the moment though most people are happy with how their bikes look :)

The top tube length and reach on that bike are almost exactly what I want in a bike.

Looking forward to the videos; looks like great fun.

To get down that track in 39 minutes is just mind blowing. Those top guys are fully sending it. The snow is just so unpredictable. The steepness of the snow sections doesn't come across on pictures or video ?

WARNING : Whilst highly effective, EMTB Forums do not officially recommend Rob's "bad curry" Ice'd cooling and cleansing technique demonstrated in his instagram video.

Congratulations for doing the Megavalanche! You're still alive, and that's the most important!

By the way, A friend of minesaw the video, he's the national recruiter for english bobsleigh team and want to hire you!
