2022 VR46 Terra – Details

Moto GP World Champ Valentino Rossi has launched his very own eMTB brand with two Bosch powered bikes launching this month.

The motorbike marvel has become quite the business person launching his own brand VR46 that has branched out into the eMTB world after already releasing a clothing brand and even an e hoverboard!

The VR46 Terra eMTB range has been developed with help from Italian e-mobility specialists MT Distrbuiotion who have already partnered with Lamborghini and Ducatti on other mobility products.

Perhaps the most surprising detail of the VR46 eMTB is that it actually looks pretty good, and features components from some of the biggest brands in Mountain biking.

VR46 Terra limited. Only 46 will be made.

The VR46 terra features a custom frameset and is powered by Bosch CX Gen 4 motor, with a Bosch Powertube 750Wh battery hidden away in the down tube. Someone at MT Distribution and VR46 must be keeping a close eye on eMTB trends too, as the VR46 boasts a mullet wheel configuration using either custom branded VR46 wheels or CrankBrothers excellent Synthesis Carbon eBike wheelset.

Each frameset produces 160mm of rear-wheel travel and interestingly each build also features an O-Chain system, a new never before seen eMTB configuration designed with a Bosch interface. The O-Chain is designed to help eliminate chain forces on the suspension and is usually seen as an aftermarket item, fitting one as standard might seem like an odd move, but it’s certainly a talking/selling point of the bike.

Both the Terra Pro and Terra Limited feature coil shocks with the flagship bike sporting Öhlins suspension for a matching 160mm travel front and rear.

2022 VR46 Terra – Geometry

The VR46 Terra geometry, but only M and L frame sizes are available.

The Terra electric enduro MTB gets adjustable geometry thanks to a flip-chip located in the lower shock mount. The flip-chip takes the bike from Trail to Enduro geometry which slackens the head angle from 65.5 to 64.5 degrees and the seat angle from 76 to 75 degrees, a little slacker than some modern-day bikes but that shouldn’t affect climbing ability thanks to the 85nm motor.

Only sizes Medium and Large are listed on the VR46 Terra with the medium frame having a 440mm seat tube, and between 470-460mm reach depending on the flip-chip position. The Large frame has a taller 475mm seat tube, and a reach between 480-490mm

Both builds have FSA, and Crankbrothers components and both feature SRAM GX AXS wireless shifting, but it’s the limited edition VR46 Terra Limited that catches our attention.

Only 46 of these stealthy carbon eMTB’s will go on sale, each with a Valentino Rossi signature, and featuring lashings of carbon fibre from the frame, FSA handlebar, wheels, and FSA chainset. Other notable features include Pirelli Scorpion eMTB tyres and Sram Code RSC brakes.

The VR46 Pro features RockShox suspension.

The Terra Pro sports a less exclusive build and gets bright yellow frame detailing. The Pro build has alloy crank arms, alloy Fulcrum wheels, RockShox suspension and SRAM Guide RE brakes.

There is no word on pricing yet and we have if VR46 will be offering the Terra eMTB worldwide or not. For more details visit the VR46 website here.
