Ebike won’t start in the cold!?

It’s been a cold winter in some countries. We’ve been below -10*C for weeks where I live and people have reported having problems starting their bike. In this video we look at why this could be happening. Lots of ebikes with an integrated battery have got a power button on the frame. We could encounter situations where the tiny power button battery is drained and doesn’t work. Several bike manufacturers have thought of this and designed their bikes so the power button on the battery can be accessed. The Specialized solution is to roll the bike backwards. At least that worked on the Levo last time I tried.

  1. Whyte have a similar thing, undo one bolt to remove the battery cover and the battery power button is accessible through a hole in the down tube. Well thought out.
