Crestline brings out the new and limited LS160 and S180 with Bosch CX gen5

Crestline says they're tirelessly in pursuit of maximizing your time spent in nature on the bike. But not all of you. The new 2025 Crestline LS160 only comes in 50 numbered units for 2025. And the longer travel S180 comes in 150 units. So, you have to be quick about it if you want Crestline to help maximizing your nature time.

Two models and a third option​

The LS160 is a very well specc'ed bike, with DT Swiss carbon wheels and 160 mm Rockshox Ultimate suspension, comes in at $11.249. That's with the new Bosch CX motor and 600 Wh battery.

If you want to maximize your chances of owning a Crestline, you could consider the 180 mm travel Crestline S180. This model that is a bit cheaper, at $9.999. An it too is a well specc'ed bike with Sram Maven brakes and Rockshox Ultimate suspension.

If your shed is filled with high end bike components, you might be excited to hear about the RS Signature frameset. Starting at $6.499, you get the CX motor, a 600 Wh battery a headset and a chainguide mounted on the frame. No suspension is included, and it will accept 160 to 180 mm travel setups. There is no info on production numbers for the frame, and shipping starts December 2024.

Wheels and geometry​

The Crestline bikes differ a bit, depending on the frame size you chose. Crestline recommend mullet wheels for the smaller of three sizes, the "RH-2". The MX setup has 445 mm chainstays. The middle size, RH-3 is recommended with either a 27.5 or 29er rear wheel. If you opt for a 29er rear, the you'll get 455 mm chainstays. This goes for both the LS160 and S180.

The bikes are fitted with a reach-adjustable headset that does not appear to affect the head angle. The LS160 in size RH-3 has 480 mm reach and 1.288 mm wheelbase in the Long reach setting. That's a long bike! Head angle is 64* for the 160 mm model and 63.5* for the 180 version.

One thing I like about eebs is that you do not need to spend tons of money on the lightest best parts and still have a great bike. Yet here we are with a $12000 USD bike. Is it that much better than the Orbea Wild on sale for $6500?? We will see.

No, it's not 2x better. But then a 911 isn't 5x better than a MIata, yet there is still a market.

People have different priorities, finances, and desires.

It's all subjective...that said, I like my Crestline at least 3x as much as I like the Orbea Wild. :cool:
 
I just saw both of these in person about an hour ago. Beautiful bikes and Rob will be happy because they change the material of the charge port cover so it's easier to close now.
