The most popular eMTB brand for 2024, in Norway

Every year we do a poll in a Norwegian eMTB facebook group. In this small survey, we ask what brand their emtb is. The question is not what brand they think is the best. We do this to get an impression of market shares. I talk to the winner and a few others in this video.


The winner​

We ran this poll for the first time in 2018 and the winner was Haibike. Merida was the winner for 2019. Then Specialized took over and won from 2020 to 2023. And they keep the streak alive for 2024. Specialized is the most popular emtb brand in Norway for 2024. Congratulations.

Changes from last year​

It’s interesting comparing the 2023 and 2024 results. Specialized has the same 16% market share as last year. Orbea is still in second place, and they have a slightly increased market share, up from 10,9 to 11,6%. Scott takes one step up to 3rd place while Trek goes from 6th to 3rd place. As you may have noticed, they both share the third spot.

An international poll​

This year we tried to ask the same question on the eMTB Forums facebook group. But we only got some 400 votes from the 90k members. As there were so few votes, I decided against making a separate article for this poll. We will try again next year. This poll too shows Specialized (13.6%) ahead of Trek (9.6%) and Orbea (9.2%).

I'm pretty sure that Cube would have come up higher if they had a dealer network and not just an online store.
That Specialized keeps its place was not unexpected.

Yeah. Cube was one of the first brands selling emtbs and one would expect they had built a customer base, like Haibike did. But here in Norway, it wasn't easy getting bikes. If you wanted one, you had to preorder it. But even if you did, some people had their orders canceled. Availability is much better now and they've got the Norwegian version of Decathlon selling their bikes. But the competition is much stronger now. Cube never got the market position one would have expected here.

Plus Bikester.no went into liquidation and no longer deal in Cube bikes as they did. There seem to only be a few Norwegian suppliers and XXL selling cheaper Cube models. Didn't know Decathlon had set up in Norway.

I meant XXL, the Norwegian equivalent of Decathlon :) They're a Cube distributor. And bikester.no (+ se and dk) is back up agan with new owners. They've still got Cube, but I don't know if that's just leftovers...

Bikeshop.no is also selling Cube.

What is amazing the amount of brands , and those listed are not all of them , must be lots of profits in emtb's
