Evening all I've just broke my controller again 😢, I've ordered the 2 in 1 display but it says not backward compatible? But my trance 2019 has had 3 motors and 2 controllers, and when they put the last motor and controller on the controller was ant + the originals weren't. So I'm wondering because my bike has a 2022 motor and controller do we think the new display will work ? It's says something about smart gate how do I know if I've got that ? Thanks

Probably a bit late by now, but earlier Giant's used RideControl One / ANT+ as sole protocol from controller to motor. Newer bikes use CANBUS protocol via Smart Gateway unit which does all the communication. That box sits beside the motor bottom RHS. The dreadful Giant app will report what controller is installed.

Physical difference, RideControl uses 8 pin round connectors, Smart Gateway 6 pins.
