    Getting "bushwhacked", shin guard recommendations?

The cure for nettle rash is dock leaves. I'm sure we all have known that since we were kids. But I was taught a new technique by an MTB skills instructor called Tony Doyle (known to his fans as "Jedi"). The technique amplifies the effectiveness of the dock leaves. Crush the dock leaves in your...

    Battery won't install

I don't have a Haibike, so this is generic advice. The end of the battery that you push in first may have the connections at that end. Are you certain that the connections have been made and that you have not inadvertently bent one of the connectors, thus preventing the battery from properly...

Best security options to prevent theft - don't need another stolen bike

A more subtle and hence harder for the thief to see would be a 7" spike that launches through the saddle, unless disarmed. Just don't forget to disarm it before riding it yourself! I saw a USA video made by some students who left a trick bicycle for people to steal. It had a counter...

    Getting "bushwhacked", shin guard recommendations?

I wear Fox Ranger long pants, with Troy Lee Designs knee & shin guards underneath. They fend off all nettles & brambles. Brambles have vicious hooked thorns and will penetrate flesh quite easily and make a right mess if they drag. The straight and thin spines on Gorse are more fragile and would...

    Bearing extraction and press tools

Oh shit! I was bought that set last year, not had to use it yet. I hope mine is one of the genuine ones! I'll have to get out my micrometer now!

    Getting "bushwhacked", shin guard recommendations?

Seeing as we are getting in touch with our feminine side, I too have a confession. I wear pink shirts from time to time! :giggle:

Unanswered Best tow bar bike rack

I believe that they also do a 3-bike option. But I know for sure that you can buy an add-on to the Velospace x2 that allows a 3rd bike. The total weight of bikes is limited though on the x2 and the x3 (to 60kg I believe).

Best security options to prevent theft - don't need another stolen bike

I have a Kryptonite New York Noose, plus other stuff. See pic. It is 1.3m long and the chain links are made from 12mm hardened hexagonal bar (you can get bigger). Crucially, at one end of the chain is the "noose" - a ring made from the same hex bar. It enables you to loop the other end of the...

    Do you need wife's permission?

Get one! But it's a high-risk strategy! If it pays off its marvellous, otherwise not.

    Do you need wife's permission?

We have taken over 50 years to get used to each other and stopped having problems more than 30 years ago. We each have a lot that we like about each other. We take pleasure in the successes and triumphs that the other has as an individual, even if we fail to understand what they hell they get...

Upgrading to 29" - what do i need to look for wrt wheel spec ?

Check that the 29" rear wheel will actually fit into the frame (usually no probs with the front). Allow for sideways flex. Allow for wider tyres that you may fit. It's not just the cross brace that you need to check, but the clearance with the seat and chain stays as well. Also allow for the...

So, did you keep or sell your non eMTB? Any regrets?

My God @franciscoasismm! I have seen the distances you clock up on your other bikes, and was amazed! AND NOW THIS! You must be commuting on all your bikes, and a very long way, to rack up such distances.

Merida EOne Sixty 8000 cleaning advice

I remember being very sharply told by @Gary that my Focus Jam2 air vents did not lead directly to the battery (it was implied I was a stupid boy for thinking such). In fact, there is a thin wall section that separated the battery from the vent channel. I still don't know whether there was or not...

So, did you keep or sell your non eMTB? Any regrets?

If you still enjoy the mtb, then keep it. I kept my Whyte T130C RS for three months and didn't ride it once. I took it out for a spin and all my knee pain came back, so I sold it. However, I wished that I had not sold it, but kept it for my grandson who in only a few years would have been tall...

Merida EOne Sixty 8000 cleaning advice

I have an eOne Sixty 9000. The detail frame design is identical to yours. I have only removed the battery twice in the two and a half years that I've had the bike. Once when I bought the bike to see how it worked and once six months ago or so to clean out the dust build up. The bike gets washed...
