Cycle to work scheme a non starter

Was thinking of a haibike altm 7 which is just over 5k from official dealer. Not sure about buying from places that sell them cheaper but are not listed on haibike's site as a dealer.

Cycle to work scheme a non starter

Just recovering from knee surgery so I can finally justify getting an emtb (finally come to terms with the cost lol). Been to a local shop etc then remembered my work does the cycle to work thing. Got the info back today - limited to £3500. Bollox that isn't nearly enough. Seems you are no...

E-bike speed restrictions (agree or disagree )

Well he can until I hit 15mph or more then he tends to stop pedalling as he's then working against the motor. If he switches it off its easier to pedal. On a short down and up I pull away. 15mph is actually very easy to achieve on a smooth track or slight downhill slope. Do we want to spend 4...

E-bike speed restrictions (agree or disagree )

My friend has recently bought a 2021 giant trance and we met for a ride in the local woods. We live in the UK so the bike is restricted to 15mph. I must say that I can out perform him everywhere (on my pedal only 2005 giant reign) other than long hills or starting short hills from a standstill...

    Giant Stance Intermittent Ticking Noise

I've had spokes creek before. Took ages to work out. Tightened up nipples and all good.

Has the 2nd hand market bubble finally burst ?

Warranties aren't transferable are they? I know giant's aren't. What with 0% finance and now 3yrs warranty offered on motor my mate bought new instead of used.

Article Can you trust an eMTB Motor in 2021?

I was in a giant shop two days ago. 3yrs warranty on motor and is fully rebuildable. Seems OK to me. Might even buy one. My mate did.

    Amazon and bike parts

Last time I went to my local bike shop they tried to sell me a used bottom bracket as new ... so yes I buy from amazon. 'This has been used' I said 'oh our mech fitted by error and took off again, he's an idiot '. Mmm the ingrained dirt on splines said otherwise.

Well that's great. Going to have to buy one now!

Well that's great. Going to have to buy one now!

Been on the fence for ages. Price and longevity the stumbling blocks. My riding buddy was looking at a bike on ebay but it fell through. I sent him a link for a new giant and the fact they do 36 months 0% finance. This led us to visiting a local giant shop. I was very surprised to be told they...

Price of bikes - some thoughts....

Well talk about light blue touch paper and stand back! ? To add my 2p worth. Price of individual components can't be used as a gauge to price of the whole. There has been plenty of articles where cars/bikes have been costed from parts and its horrendous.

Price of bikes - some thoughts....

OK full confession, I've yet to jump onto the e/bike wave but this also applies to non e bikes too. The other day I had a thought. Almost all of the components that make up a bike is bought in, with zero design or development cost so why are they (the bikes) so expensive? And are premium...

Trying to get e MTB’s prices in perspective

Recently had an email ref some new emtb £8500. New Yamaha 700 tenere can be had on ebay for £8595! I'm sorry but please tell me again how emtb's are not over priced?

What tools do you own and have used?

I'm an engineer so I do everything myself on bikes, cars and bicycles. Even fixed my house boiler the other day. Can't remember the last time I took a vehicle in for repair. Oh yes about five years ago my previous car needed a clutch. I own just about everything. If there's a tool I need to...

Why do people have a problem with ebikes?

I've still not taken the plunge on ebikes but I'd like one. If only they weren't as expensive as my motorbikes! I did light-heartedly poke fun at a friend who was recording rides on strava using his emtb! Bragging how far he'd gone etc. That is cheating in my mind as some people put in a lot of...

    The end for ebike tuning?

Yes. It's absurd I agree - the very fact they use a speed to differentiate moped and bicycle, when that speed is clearly below what can be AVERAGED on a bicycle!

    The end for ebike tuning?

A couple of weeks ago I did a 21 mile road bike cycle at an average of 15mph (25kph) and I'm not exactly fast at 57years old. So what are they trying to achieve by limiting ebike assistance? If you are fit and fast it's ok to go over 25kph but if you need some help then no you cant - so suffer...

    Can we trust magazine reviews?

I remember the dirt bike mag TBM had loads of trouble from motorbike manufacturers that didn't like the smallest amount of criticism, some pulled their advertising. So no you can't trust them really.

Riding : How wet is too wet ?

Need some advice. My mate did some research into different bikes and in the end gave up as dealers told him basically why cant ride them in the wet ie the ridgeway in winter. What is the collective wisdom and experience ref water ingress to motor and is any one brand worse than others?
