Levo Gen 2 Fix for noisy gen2 levo motor.

    Don't worry, there's nothing we can't repair on a Brose motor (y)

Bosch CX Gen 4 - missing seal and ERROR 500

On many of the earlier motors, there was no white sticker under the logo badge, so as soon as the badge feel off or started leaking, water would enter the motor. If this is a small amount of water, it will just destroy the lower armature bearing. If it was a lot of water, this will be an...

Bosch Gen4 Seal Service & Grease up

If you flick that white plastic washer out the way, pack a bit of green grease behind it and refit, it may help a bit. Don't get any grit in their though.

Bosch Gen4 Seal Service & Grease up

No, the Bosch bearing shields are working quite well. Unfortunately this is not where the water is coming in. The water is traveling between the crankshaft and the freewheel sleeve (the thing the front chainring is attached to). Once water gets in here, it rusts the crankshaft which quickly...

Bosch Gen4 Seal Service & Grease up

I would love for this to be a simple home fix for people, but to fit this part to the Gen 4 motor does require a full strip down because the crankshaft must be removed and this cannot be done until the PCB, transfer gears and electric motor have been removed. This would probably be ok for a few...

Bosch Gen4 Seal Service & Grease up

Yes, we have had the seals manufactured and we are just being held up for another few weeks by the machine shop making one of the other components for us. But we are trialing the prototypes and everything is looking good at this time.

Bosch CX Gen 4 - missing seal and ERROR 500

Sadly this used to be quite common and has now been addressed by Bosch with a new type of sticker. This is exactly what it looks like... a hole directly into your motor! You do need to contact Bosch because this motor will fail prematurely if any water at all has made it's way inside.

Big Brose motor upgrade now available for older motors.

This only really applies to the earlier PW and PW-SE, ST, CE, X, X2 and TE type motors that relied on this grease to lubricate bronze bushes within the motor. Your motor, the PW-X3 has come a long way since those days and the grease has now changed. Yamaha no longer print service manuals for...

    STEPS E8000 Motor Service

There is no email address that I have been able to find for Shimano ebike in Japan, not even a form to send, but you can find country contacts forms here: CONTACT SHIMANO | SHIMANO BIKE-AUSTRALIA We have been emailing the UK import suppliers, but this has proved fruitless so far! When you look...

    STEPS E8000 Motor Service

Hi @Beatn1K, I am the owner of the much spoken about Ebike Motor Centre, and hopefully I can answer some of your questions here. With regards play in the crankshaft. There should be no discernible play radially or up and down if you like. However, if you are holding the very end of the crank...

Levo Gen 3 My Levo is constantly breaking down is this normal ?

As a self proclaimed know it all, let me see if I can shed some light on this. I often asked myself these exact same questions in the early days. As a vehicle mechanic and then a motorcycle mechanic with my own repair shop, and a keen off-road motorcycle rider. I am now the owner of the worlds...

Levo Gen 3 My Levo is constantly breaking down is this normal ?

That's the big difference between MTB's and eMTB's. I think we should open a shop in Florida, sounds like business would be good :ROFLMAO:

Levo Gen 3 My Levo is constantly breaking down is this normal ?

At the risk of being that "smart arsed contributor"... Hear me out first. After your chain and TCU battery going flat, the failures you mention are all classic signs of water ingress. When we talk to people who have suffered a catalogue of failures like yours, we are nearly always told by the...

Having issues with Bosch CX Motor, wondering is anyone is facing this issue?!

This could be one of three things on a Gen 4. And what @arTNC said is the most likely. The sprocket lockring nut can back off very slightly, or be tight but not physically clamping the chainring spider hard enough. If the spider is aluminium, it quickly wears the splines off the spider allowing...

Turbo Levo Brose 1.3 Grinding Noise

Sorry for the late reply, just came across your post. This is not a common sound for a Brose to make but going on the frequency of the noise, it is either a planetary gear snapped off or belt related. It would definitely be worth getting it checked out sooner rather than later. Does the noise...

Yes, it's Michael in Tennessee. Just check you got the upgrade before charging through too many puddles. :)

Before rebuild: How fast? After rebuild: Not gonna!

If Michael did the Brose upgrade for you, streams and washing won't be a problem. The upgrade makes the motor extremely water resistant. It does not make it totally water proof, but streams, big puddles and washing (without a pressure washer) should be no problem.

Gen 4 Rebuild by with pics

Because these are bushes and not bearings, you will feel a slight bit if play, even on a new Gen 4 motor. This is usually around 2mm by the time it gets to the very end of the pedal arm. The picture below shows how the dirt gets into the motor and you can see the plastic bushes shown on our...

Bosch Gen4 Seal Service & Grease up

I do have some slightly bad news for you guys though. We have been logging lots of faults with the Gen 4's whilst constantly evaluating the failures we're seeing. We could not workout why the left hand crankshaft bearing keeps failing and the right hand does not (well, not so much anyway). It...
